Certificate in Figurative Sculpture
The Certificate in Figurative Sculpture is a one day a week course for two years. It is aimed at people who are serious about developing their artistic practice, but are not able to undertake full-time study. It focuses on all aspects of figure and portrait modelling, developing a wide variety of skills and aptitudes. Students have the opportunity to try a variety of sizes of figure modelling, from quarter life to life size, and portraiture in clay and other materials, such as plaster or wax. Certificate students study alongside Fine Art Diploma students and all courses are taken by specialist tutors who are experts in their field.

Armatures • Measuring skills • Modelling skills • Observational skills • Anatomy • Abstract work • Materials
The course offers excellent additional benefits:
• 2nd Year Certificate students have the opportunity to show work at the Graduate Show.
• Every student has a personal tutor who is available for advice, support and guidance throughout the course.
• The Academy provides space for students to store their materials and work between classes. The large studios are also available for them to use when no other class is present.
• Students are able to join some other classes run by the Academy free of charge (subject to availability – materials must be paid for)
• Certificate students may attend the excellent professional development class run for the Fine Art Diploma students.
