Creative Sculpture in the Life Room

Experience level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
Mondays - 16 April - 2 July 2012
(Class as normal on Spring Bank Holiday 7 May but no class for Half Term on 21 May or for the Jubilee bank holiday 4 June.)
10.00am - 5.00pm
£495
The purpose of this course is to give students the opportunity to explore form and materials as a means of expression. This course is about creating a sculpture using a life model as reference, rather than doing a technical study of a model (though students may choose to work without any reference to the model)
It aims to teach students to use the human form to express an emotion, energy or character powerfully, to develop understanding of how to use different forms and compositions to express a feeling, and to understand the subtlety needed in the artist’s choice of forms, textures and materials. All of these aspects will equally be covered as structural/compositional principles to suit their needs should the student not wish use the model as reference.

Sculpture: Open Life Class

Experience level: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced
Thursdays -  19 April - 28 June 2012
(no class for Half Term on 24 May)
10.00am - 5.00pm

The Art Academy has always been known for its excellence in teaching life sculpture and this course offers a good opportunity to work in clay from life, exploring line, form and harmony within the figure. Working from a standing pose over 10 weeks, the course strengthens understanding of a range of sculptural language.
You can choose to do a full figure to develop figure-modelling skills or do a portrait or other fragment. More advanced students may, upon consultation with the tutor, explore a more personal, interpretive response to the figure, using different materials or techniques or a larger figure could be accomplished.
