Art can be a powerful force for community cohesion, social engagement, skills development, and urban regeneration. The Art Academy is committed to a programme of outreach and community art activities, mainly focused on our local boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth. We have already collaborated with local schools and are currently extending this programme through interaction with other education, healthcare, community and social welfare providers.

The Academy is a rich resource for the local area, able to deliver access to high quality, practical art experiences for the whole community. Our experienced team of tutors and facilitators have all the necessary skills to run workshops, courses and community consultations, both at the Academy and in other venues.

As our core activity is education, tangible results can be achieved in our outreach programme by teaching new skills, adapting and enhancing existing ones, or by helping people to bring out their latent creativity. We are also able to undertake public art commissions with a community art element.
