Part time - The Art Academy

Part time study at the Art Academy

Component courses: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Printmaking

Component courses run from 10am – 5pm, one day per week for between 2 and 10 weeks. They cover the full range of painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture
disciplines, some with a very specialist focus, some very broad-based. They can be studied individually, with no long-term commitment.

Study takes place alongside the Academy’s Diploma and Certificate students, so places are restricted.

Some components are on a 2-year rolling cycle, so are not available every year.

The next series of courses will run from April to June - for full details and booking click here

  'Essential skills' courses

    Essential Painting Skills
This new course is in response to heavy demand for a structured course covering the basics of painting and is aimed at beginners or those wishing to renew
  their skills.

Study is from 10am – 5pm on Thursdays. There are three terms of ten weeks. Each term is self-contained, covering the basic fundamentals of painting but
with an emphasis put on a different aspect. Each term starts with an introductory session, helping students starting the course to get going, and those who are in mid-
programme to hone their existing fundamental skills.
Students enrolled for the full year also benefit from an individual tutorial with a tutor of their choice (subject to their availability).
   The three terms are:
  ‘All About Colour'
  ‘Experimenting with Composition’
  ‘Structure, Tone and Light’

Fees are £1450 if you enrol for the full year, or £495 for each term.

  Essential Drawing Skills
This course runs from 10am to 5pm on Fridays from September 2011. There are three terms of 10 weeks, each of which is a self-contained programme.
Over the three terms students will be shown how to develop their observation, memory and imagination working both in and out of the studio, while investigating
systems of measurement, use of direction, shape and structure.

Fees are £1450 if you enrol for the full year, or £495 for each term.

  Certificate courses: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture

The Certificate courses are ideal for people who are serious about developing their artistic talent but have a limited amount of time to give to it.

The courses run one day a week for two years and include a very comprehensive programme of study involving skill development, creative exploration within the
subject, and personal guidance, culminating in a final show to help develop and finish the work. Students benefit from a space to store materials and artwork, attend
a half-hour dialogue session before the start of each study day and benefit from a full one hour tutorial each term with a tutor of their choice.
They may also join the Diploma students in professional development classes, lectures, visits to art fairs and museums, and participate in certain other Art Academy
  courses at subsidised rates.

Certificate courses are available in Painting and Sculpture.
