Porthleven Lifeboat House Studio courses Practical information
Accommodation
The cost of accommodation is not included in the price of the course.
The village of Porthleven itself offers a range of suitable holiday cottages available for rent by the week and participants in the courses can benefit from a reduction if they book accommodation with Porthleven Holiday Cottages. They have 13 self-catering holiday properties located on and around the unspoilt fishing harbour in Porthleven, many with breathtaking views out to sea and across to Mounts Bay.
They are offering all Art Academy students a 10% discount on a week’s stay at their cottages if booked before the end of May 2010.
Most of the properties are two or more bedrooms, some with en-suite bathrooms, ideal for friends to share, or perhaps fellow students.
Parking can be found easily outside all the properties and they also allow guests to use the Harbour Head car park free of charge.
Full details and availability of the properties can be found on their web site www.porthlevenholidaycottagesco.uk or by telephoning them on 01326 574270.
(Please note that partial bookings (eg for one room only) can not be made for these properties, but they are happy for people to share and cover the full cost of the weekly rental. Sharers will be required to pay for their stay in full when making a booking)

Transport
As the courses involve trips to different locations, you will need car transport for the whole week, unless you have made arrangements with another participant on the course.
If you have a car and would be willing to give other participants a lift, we would be very grateful. No one is obliged to do this, but if you are happy to, then please let us know when you make your booking. You can e mail us or call us to let us know.
If you do not have a car, but are still interested in the course, please contact us - if someone has offered transport, then we may be able to help you.

Sculpture course: all materials required for the course will be provided or collected locally.
Clothing: for working in the studio, please bring old clothes or overalls, and sculptors should wear shoes with closed toes. For working outdoors, due to the unpredicatable nature of the English summer, please bring a variety of clothing from summer wear to wet weather gear!
Food and refreshments
Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided in the Studio, but the cost of the course does not include food. On studio-based days, you may choose to eat in the village or bring a packed lunch to the Studio. If a day involves an activity on location or trip over lunchtime, your tutor will tell you the day before so that you can bring a packed lunch.
