Creative Painting in Cornwall

Full course details and booking at foot of page

Through a series of visits to outdoor sites and museums and collections combined with workshops and practical instruction sessions, participants will create paintings and drawings in a variety of media and on a variety of supports. Working both on location and in the studio inspiration will be sought from the landscape, natural forms, man-made forms and the weather. The aim is to produce works that interpret these sources, as opposed to necessarily depicting them figuratively. There will be ample scope for experimenting with different media and surfaces.

Topics will include: creative painting inspired by the landscape; creative painting inspired by natural found objects; painting inspired by Cornish industry; abstractions of the coastal landscape; paintings inspired by the weather; painting inspired by the modern masters of Cornish painting (Lanyon, Nicholson, Heron et al., and more recent painters like Vanessa Gardiner).
