Summer School 2010

The Summer holiday period is the ideal time to take a series of courses at The Art Academy. From late July throughout August, we open our studios for a series of short courses, each lasting 4 or 5 days and covering painting, drawing, glass, jewellery and sculpture. These can be studied individually or combined into exciting Summer School packages.

The courses start with a 5-day ‘Drawing for All’ course, which forms an ideal grounding for the ‘Painting for All’ and 'Figure and Portrait Painting' courses that follow it. There then follows a 'Portrait Painting Masterclass' with award winning painter Anastasia Pollard for those with more experience. Due to popular demand, we are running an 'Introduction to Oil Painting' course in late August.

For those who prefer to work in three dimensions, we have 'Stone Carving', 'Sculpture for All', 'Kiln Formed Glass', 'Creative Sculpture' and a 'Sculpture Masterclass' with highly regarded portrait and figure sculptor Suzie Zamit. We have also added a Jewellery Making course using metal clay.

The young are also catered for, with two four day 'Young Artists' courses for those aged 13 - 18.

Please note that this does not apply to 'Young Artists' and 'Metal Clay Jewellery'. If you want to book a package including these courses, please contact us to discuss discounts.

Taken in groups, the courses form a strong and coherent Summer School package and The Art Academy runs evening classes and weekend courses in the rest of the year that provide ideal ways to take the techniques learnt to a higher level.
