Terms and conditions
DISCLAIMER
Please note that The Art Academy cannot be held responsible for the content of external internet sites which may be reached by links from the Art Academy website.
All information is correct at time of publication. While every effort is made to offer the courses set out in The Art Academy Prospectus and on this website, the Academy reserves the right to withdraw particular courses and to change both the content and the pricing of a course when need arises, without prior warning. Students who have already paid in full for a course will not be subject to any such price increase. Minor changes of course content will not be considered to affect our cancellation policy, as set out in the Academy’s Terms and Conditions.
CANCELLATIONS BY US
If a course is cancelled by the Academy, you will be notified as quickly as possible. You will be given the opportunity to transfer to another course. Otherwise the full cost of your fees will be refunded to you within three weeks, under normal conditions.
We shall not be liable for any other consequential loss.
Force Majeure
The Art Academy cannot accept any liability where the course could not be run due to circumstances which we could not, even with due care, have foreseen or avoided. Such events may include, but are not limited to, war, threat of war, civil commotion or strife, hostilities, strikes or other industrial dispute, natural disaster, fire, act of God, terrorist activities, technical problems with transportation, closures of airports, ports and/or ferries, quarantine, epidemics, weather conditions, government action or other events outside our control.
CANCELLATIONS BY YOU
Cancellations for whatever reason on the part of the student made within 10 working days of the course are non-refundable. Cancellations made before that time will incur a £20 administration charge.
BANK HOLIDAYS
There are generally no Saturday or Monday classes on Bank Holiday weekends. Courses will continue over an extended period so that participants still have the advertised number of classes/days to attend. The end dates in the brochure take into account missing lessons.
TRANSFERRALS
Transferrals from one course to another may be made up to two weeks prior to the course start date depending on availability.
Once the term has started, it is unfortunately not possible for us to transfer students to the same course in a future term for any reason.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitutions may be accepted up to one week prior to the course start date. Substitutions cannot be accepted after the course has started.
NON-ATTENDANCE
Non-attendance of classes due to illness, or for personal or professional reasons does not provide the right to refunds, extra tuition or transferral to another class.
CERTIFICATION
On completion of your course and having attended the minimum number of hours required, the Art Academy may provide you with a Certificate of Attendance if requested to do so.
STRIKES & SECURITY ALERTS
In the event of a public transport strike or closure, or security closures of central London streets and/or buildings (which occasionally affect the capital and are beyond your control), a class that has commenced may have to be closed early. Sadly, as we will have incurred full costs for such a session, we cannot provide an alternative session, or offer a refund.
CLASS POSTPONEMENT
In the event of staff illness, we will attempt to find a substitute tutor. If this is not possible, the class will be postponed and every effort will be made to contact you. The class will be rescheduled to suit the majority of course participants. Alternatively, the missed hours may be added to the remaining course classes. Occasionally due to adverse weather conditions or unforeseen incidents, which sometimes affect the capital, courses may have to be postponed at very short notice. We apologise for this inconvenience, and urge you to ring us if you have any concern.
STUDENT CONDUCT
Course participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner, and to recognise that other course participants also require support and assistance. If a participant becomes persistently disruptive, we reserve the right to offer a verbal warning, and if this does not resolve the situation, the participant may be asked to leave the course.
OVERSEAS APPLICATION
It is essential that you advise us of your UK address, telephone and fax details for the two weeks period prior to your course commencing in case we need to advise you of any changes. The Academy does not make refunds for accommodation or travel costs associated with courses, for any reason whatsoever.
STUDENT VISA
Short course students are not eligible to apply for a student visa. Students who need a visa to enter the UK must contact the British Embassy in their own country and make prior arrangements before booking a short course.
ENGLISH
All classes are taught in English. Applicants for diploma courses whose first language is not English should note that they are required to be moderately proficient in written and spoken English, and be able to participate in group discussions and presentations in English. Attendees on short courses should have a working knowledge of English.
