Introduction to Sculpture
Full course details and booking at foot of page
For those who find it difficult to give up a whole weekend for a course, we have started some 'split weekend' courses - two days spread over two consecutive weekends.
Like the normal weekend course of this name, this is an opportunity to learn and experiment with some basic sculptural techniques – and it’s surprising what can be achieved in just two days.
Day one is spent on a clay figure, capturing a life pose while learning observational, measuring and modelling techniques. A discussion will be held which would lead to individual ideas for Sunday.
Day two looks at wire & plaster as a sculptural medium. Working from an individual interest, students realise and develop their idea in plaster and other materials (which they can bring along if they wish) to produce a final piece.
Students will be given guidance and support for the work on day two and need not fear if they have nothing in mind until they arrive for the course.
